Any Canadian feature-length non-fiction film with a MINIMUM running time of 60 minutes.

LIVE ACTION SHORT DRAMA
Any Canadian dramatic film with a MAXIMUM running time of 30 minutes.

SHORT DOCUMENTARY
Any Canadian non-fiction film with a maximum running time of 59 minutes

About

The Genie Awards, honouring outstanding achievement in the Canadian film industry, were inaugurated by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television in 1980.

Since then the event has grown in prominence and stature to become one of the most prestigious cultural events in Canada. Each year the Genies bring together more than 1600 key film professionals, craftspeople and decision-makers from across Canada to honour, celebrate and promote the talent and accomplishments of the Canadian film industry for a televised gala and promotional campaign.

Each summer the Academy sends out a call-for-Entries to Academy members and related industry members across Canada. Official Genie Rules and Regulations and Entry Forms are posted on the Genie Awards website, www.genieawards.ca, available for download.

Any Canadian film that meets the current Genie Awards eligibility criteria may be entered for consideration. Entries are submitted by the owner of the film or the owner’s authorized representative.
