The films should be spoken in Spanish. In cases where they are spoken in a foreign language, they should be subtitled in Spanish.

The International film Festival Corporation of Cartagena will give the winner of the Catalina Indian for Best Film the sum of US$15,000.oo (Fifteen Thousand Dollars). The award will be given to the director of the feature film selected as the winner. The will be a Special Audience Award that will be achieved by a direct voting system by the audience members attending the different screenings. The winner will receive the Catalina Indian trophy.

Catalina Indian Awards:

1. Best animated short film.
2. Best short documentary.
3. Best short film in the fiction genre

An award equivalent to US$ 20,000.00 in specialized post production services for the final mix of the sound track of a 90 minute film in Dolby Digital THX from FX DESIGN STUDIOS, an Argentine producer, will go to the director of the winner of the short film in the fiction category.

About

The WOMEN’S FILM section has as its overriding objective the screening and dissemination of the best work done by Colombian and Ibero American women, produced in 2009, in any genre or format, in the hope of promoting these productions and thereby strengthening the presence of women in audiovisual production in the region.
Another objective, equally important, is to continue to consolidate a space adequate for the analysis of the state of women’s audiovisual production, recognizing its importance and contribution to cultural diversity and facilitating a meeting place for the exchanging of experiences, criteria and reflection about audiovisual production.

About

By their nature, as defined in the seventies, the festival promotes cultural diversity, promote and carry out the exhibition of works by Latin American and Caribbean countries, the largest reception and discussion of the works, stories, trends and achievements of the cinema national part of the world mean that the work itself, artistic identity of the participating countries. Given the selection criteria of the festival, each film is a genuine participant identity message, presented through a film in which values are transmitted from a national and Latin American, and social life and everyday people and nations represented, the appropriation of the historical and contemporary representations of the living.
