Synopsis

The story is about the inter personal relationship between Man and Woman set in the backdrop of the picturesque Ladakh. The female lead of the film is married and satisfied with her married life. While pursuing her course of Philosophy she has to leave for Ladakh to complete her dissertations for Buddhist Philosophy. She meets the guide, a local Khempo- Monk. A relationship develops between them which is physical but not intended. Does her husband accept her? The film is open ended.

"The Last Monk" is an Indian feature film in English that ventures into the hitherto uncharted territories of cultural Buddhism through the breath taking landscape of Ladakh in Indo-Tibetan plateau and radical understanding of relationship, sexuality and beyond. The film stars Rachna Shah, who was last seen in M.F.Hussain's Meenaxi and Sonam Stobgias Gorky who plays the title character.
"The Last Monk" has been screened amongst many other festivals at Rotterdam Film Festival , Mumbai International Film Festival (MAMI) , Cannes International Film Festival.
