Thursday, July 2 - 7pm Anvil! The Story of AnvilAnvil

USA 2008; Director: Sacha Gervasi; 80 minutes
Sacha Gervasi has concocted a wonderful and often hilarious account of Anvil - the demigods of Canadian heavy metal - on their last-ditch quest for elusive fame and fortune.  At first it may seem like a mockumentary, a la Spinal Tap, but it isn't.  At its core, Anvil! is a timeless tale of survival and the youthful passion it takes to follow your dream, year after year.

USA 2008; Director; James Toback; 90 minutes
Through a mixture of original interviews and archival footage, James Toback weaves a startlingly complex and mesmerizing portrait of Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight boxing champion of the world.  In its depiction of a man rising from the most debased and impoverished circumstances to unlimited heights - and ultimately destroyed by his own hubris - Tyson emerges as a modern-day version of a classic Greek tragedy.
