PARK CITY, UT — Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the 2011 Sundance Film Festival out-of-competition sections NEXT (<=>), Spotlight, New Frontier, Park City at Midnight, as well as a new Native Showcase. Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. In addition to the four Competition Categories, the Festival presents films in six out-of-competition sections to be announced on December 2. Almost a Masterpiece: “Four Lions” an Explosive Comedy

In the opening scene of “Four Lions,” a group of British would-be terrorists attempt in vain to make the ideal suicide tape. It’s not the first time that such risqué bloopers have been depicted in narrative form - both “Paradise Now” and the short-lived Showtime series “Sleeper Cell” contained similar moments - but it’s certainly the funniest.

“King’s Speech” Leads British Independent Film Award Nominations by Peter Knegt

Tom Hooper’s “The King’s Speech” led the nominations for the 13th annual Moet British Independent Film Awards, which were announced this morning at St Martins Lane in London. The film garnered eight nominations, including best film, best director, best screenplay, and acting nominations for Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, Geoffrey Rush and Guy Pearce.  In the best film category, it was nominated alongside Chris Morris’s “Four Lions,” Matthew Vaughn’s “Kick-Ass,” Gareth Edwards’s “Monsters” and Mark Romanek’s “Never Let Me Go” - each of which took multiple nominations themselves.
